How to install Nvu/KompoZer...
Nvu is a free web page editing program. However things have been chaninging on their website as of Fall 2007, so I now recommend a new program. It's an unofficial updated version of Nvu called Kompozer. It works essentially the same way as Nvu does, but it's more stable.
It still allows you to design your own web page, you can add text, images, and more. Kompozer/Nvu makes it easy to create your own web page.
Things have changed since I made this site a couple years ago, so you'll now want to download and install the KompoZer software.
The rest of the Nvu videos should work even though it's now called KompoZer. So anywhere you see Nvu, replace it with the word KompoZer.
Follow the text directions below:
1) I recommend the new revised version call KompoZer - an upgraded version of Nvu. The Nvu tutorials should work essentially the same for the update. KompoZer is supposed to be more stable / less buggy...Which is great! Also, if you do run into problems formatting wise from the videos with KompoZer you might have to go into Tools >> Options >> Advanced >> and switch to XHMTL 1.0 Transitional.
2) Click here to download KompoZer
3) Next choose the correct version - for windows it's the first win32 binary link. For Mac, it's the .dmg link.
4) That'll take you to SourceForge and you might get a box saying something about downloading the file OR click at the top to download. Do that. Download the file to your desktop.
5) Next, you'll need to go to your desktop and find the file. You will need to extract all the files (since it was a .zip file - which means a compressed file). For Vista users, all you have to do is right click on the file and choose Extract All.
6) Once you have extracted the zipped file, then go inside the unzipped folder by double clicking on it and double click on the kompozer file. That get's the program up and running.
That's it. You should now have KompoZer/Nvu installed on your computer. Next, we'll go over with you how to set up Nvu/KompoZer.
I'll add more videos when I have time to show you the new Kompozer... in the mean time the same videos for Nvu should work for Kompozer.
